Hello world!

I've decided that I should compile my thoughts into a blog. Strange, right? But I figure this will allow me to record my thoughts and progress as I go along my publishing journey. Perhaps someday this blog will become at least semi-famous and people will flock to read my written word. Well, a writer can hope, anyway.

Welcome to my blog, and for whatever reason you are here, you're here. This will compile all my thoughts and progress as I continue down the road to publication. Hopefully I will continue this after I am published as well. ;D

I am working to find representation for The Underground at the present moment. It's the project I've been working on for a year and a half, and it's almost half-way done. Presently I'm writing the third book Obsession and so far it's my favorite. The amount of characters that desired a role in this novel was astounding, but somehow I managed to wiggle in each and every one of their subplots and backstories. I suppose though that Obsession is my favorite merely because that is the book I'm writing at the moment. Check back with me in a few months, and I'll tell you where I'm at, mmkay? ;)

At the same time I'm also working on a YA fantasy novel called As Time Runs Out. Once that is done, I'm going to ruturn to Riot which is a futuristic thriller about teenagers trying to take over. The Underground is of course number one on my list, simple because it's my series, and the book I'm trying to find representation for. I'm hoping to break into the business with The Underground, but if that doesn't work, then I have my thriller and my YA novel to back me up.

It's shameful to admit that I don't read as much as I should. I find a lot of the time I get frustrated with the author's way of constructing the book, and often go off to write my own book(s). However, as I'm getting older, I'm finding myself able to sit down with more and more books and immerse myself in a universe I didn't create. Right now I'm reading Heart Of Stone by C.E. Murphy. Fantastic book so far, the first chapter really gripped me. Part of me is reading this as though I were a literary agent looking to represent Murphy, and I can't help but see why they were published. Meanwhile, I struggle to write a worthwhile query. Haha.

Today I have recieved a partial for the first 50 pages of my novel. I was bouncy and ecstatic and I couldn't wait to send it out, until I went to look into the agent who sent me the request. Unfortunately, he didn't check out. :( I thought I did all the research when I sent the queries, but I guess I overlooked some stuff with Mr Agent. So, I had to pass. Such a bummer.

It's a real lesson to everybody out there looking to publish: Always do your homework BEFORE sending the queries. You could end up screwed, or hugely disappointed.

Anyway, I believe that's all I have to say on my first entry. Thank you for reading, and expect more from me as my journey progresses.

Peace!
